Prosser is where Washington wine started.
The first commercial vineyards in the state were planted here, and today the town is surrounded by AVAs: Yakima Valley, Horse Heaven Hills and Red Mountain are all a short drive.
Vintner's Village puts a dozen tasting rooms within a few hundred yards of each other. The Yakima River runs along the edge of town. And in late September, the sky fills with hot-air balloons.
